Review

This was a disappointing pizza from a restaurant that clearly had good ingredients to select from. Old Friends’ pizza had excellent cuts of prosciutto and rich hunks of tuna in their ‘Old Friends’ Pizza. But it was clear there was little fusion in this pizza, and they should stick to their well advertised steak and seafood menu. There was no base on this pizza to speak of, except for some olive oil. The vegetables were not ripe, and the tomatoes and onions could have used a few more days of ripening before being added to this pizza. Bitter onions, rich tuna, tender prosciutto and unripened tomatoes created a very odd taste.

Add in some dry arugula to this pizza and you have a recipe for a very filling, but unpalatable pizza. Most of the other diners were having seafood, and for a Tuesday evening the restaurant was packed. Old Friends, although it does not have good pizza, does have great parking. Such commodities are rare on the peninsula where the towns of Monte di Procida and Cuma sit. I will be back for the parmesan, prosciutto anti-pastas, and wine, just not for the pizza. On a scale of one to ten I give the toppings a 3 and the crust a 3
