Review

Here’s to second chances at pizzerias. Bob and Clare’s produced a much better pizza than my first visit here (please see an earlier review here). The boat pizza was excellent with varying parts of the crust baked to an appropriate crispiness. I did not think that a themed pizza could taste so good, as the baking style is devoted more to aesthetics and less to a culinary regimen.

However, the ‘boat’ portion of the pizza had excellent stuffed ricotta topped with fresh arugula. Despite compressing a full pizza dough ball into about half the normal area, the crust was still fully cooked with scattered amounts of char. The layered levels of cheese, first mozzarella on the top of the boat, and then ricotta on the inside, create an alternating flavor of thick and buttery (the mozzarella), and creamy and soft (the ricotta). Although it is unrelated to the taste, I’m also impressed that the pizzaiolo was able to so nimbly design the ‘Y’-shaped oar holders. This was an excellent, very filling pizza. On a scale of one to ten I give the toppings a 6 and the crust a 8
