Review

Giardino’s capricciosa pizza is a good mix of typical autumn ingredients. Although the pizza needs olives to round out the classic capricciosa ingredients, the pizza hardly suffers for their absence. There was the usual assortment of kids and karaoke at Giardino on a weekend evening, and the waiters seem to have an uncanny ability to dodge children as they carry pizzas in one hand and plates of shellfish in the other. Capricciosa pizzas carry a heavy amount of ingredients, so it is critical the pizzaiolo does not thin out the pizza center too much when they are twirling the pizza dough above the marble preparation tables. In this case the pizza center was sufficiently thick to prevent the base from pooling in the center, and creating a watery set of toppings. The crust was not outstanding, but for the most part the toppings were. On a scale of one to ten I give the toppings a 7 and the crust a 5.5
