Review

Vittorio is pizzeria located in the mountainous town of Ravello on the Sorrento Peninsula. Ravello is a historic resort town dating back nearly 1400 years when Romans and later, Italian merchants built their villas here. The town has a similar feel to the local islands of Capri and Ischia, but by comparison, seems to have much more affordable restaurants. It doesn’t hurt to visit here outside of the three month summer music festival either, with less tourists in the town and notably lower prices.

The manageable town has only two pizzerias by my count, Cosimo’s and Vittoria. I chose to eat at Vittoria’s which had a surprisingly well priced menu for a resort town (pizzas were six to ten euros). The Vittoria pizza had an exclusively cheese base, composed of creamy mozzarella and tasty provolone. Sliced cherry tomatoes and arugula were scattered on top followed by shredded parmesan cheese. The pizza has a refreshing taste, probably best in the summer and with a white wine. Combined with a respectable Neapolitan crust I give this pizza a 6 for toppings and a 5.5 for crust
