Pizzerias do not always draw big crowds because they cook good pizza, sometimes they just have a good football match televised inside the establishment. So be careful if you enter a pizzeria based on the high number of Italians dining inside, it could be a misleading indicator. I don’t want to imply that Italians would have poor taste in pizza, they of course don’t, but that the imperative to watch Champions League Football matches between literally every major European football club may overwhelm the imperative for perfect pizza. La Locanda certainly provides large pizzas, even by Neapolitan standards, which may be another draw for the football loving crowd. My porcini pizza was watery, maybe a product of undercooking, failing to strain the porcini mushrooms from the water they were in, or both. The pizza was simply a mess of toppings that had not cooked well. I am sure the ingredients were good, but how they all taste together with a suitable crust is something I’ll never know on this particular visit. On a scale of one to ten I give the toppings a 3.5 and the crust a 2
