Review

La Vera Pizzeria (not to be confused with a pizzeria that is a member of the ‘Vera Neapolitan’ pizza association) seems to be catering to an unusual clientele. La Vera is located directly across from a series of by-the-hour hotels, although I don’t know who built their establishment first, the pizzeria or the hotels, I’m sure there is some beneficial cross-business. The pizza here is passable. La Vera Pizzeria has a slight twist on the traditional al crudo pizza (arugula, cherry tomatoes, shredded parmesan, prosciutto) and adds provolone to the base. For someone who likes cheese with more flavor than simply mozzarella, then this is a positive addition to the pizza base. However the rest of the toppings, specifically the vegetables, are bland. La Vera’s prosciutto is of better quality than the vegetables though, and in general was a lean cut of meat. From what I observed, La Vera seemed to be doing good business for a Wednesday evening, so perhaps if less discriminating tastes lead you to one of the by-the-hour hotels, less discriminating pizza tastes will also lead you to La Vera Pizza. On a scale of one to ten I give the toppings a 5 and the crust a 4
