Review

This was another good pizza at Acqua & Farina. I’ve learned my lesson and will not try to come here after nine in the evening on a Saturday. It was almost a full two hours before I was seated and had a chance to order. Although the way in which the waiters convincingly nod and say ‘un momento’ makes it seem as if you are just about to get a seat and a pizza any second…

The pizza I ate, the Boccacia, is one half of a regular Margherita pizza, and another half folded over on itself with ricotta cheese and slices of steak on the inside. The Margherita pizza is good in its own right, with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes. The second half of the pizza had well cooked ricotta covered by a crisper crust on the top. The second half also had slices of steak inside. These probably are not the best steak cuts, and are somewhat stringy. However the creamy taste the ricotta gives the steak still makes the second half of this pizza delicious (I’m sure it didn’t hurt waiting for so long either). So this is a very good pizza, but by the pizzeria’s own standards it is not one of their best. The pizzeria has such good ingredients, having a pizza with more ingredients, like their ‘Al Crudo’, is probably the best way to dine here. More ingredients on these quality pizzas are unlikely to compromise the crust. On a scale of one to ten I give the toppings a 6 and the crust a 6
