Review

Spyre is a medieval town between Heidelberg and Karlsruhe. It is probably not the place I should be trying to eat a pizza in given the abundance of more traditional taverns and restaurants serving German cuisine. The pizza here was average-below average, but I have to give the chef credit for creativity and the restaurant for making use of a brick oven, which I find surprising given the location outside of Italy. My pizza was loaded with ingredients, at least eight separate ingredients in addition to the base. The jalapeños and the two hard boiled eggs are the most notable features of this pizza. The olives were bland, but the jalapeños provide a nice spicy kick to the ham or prosciutto on the pizza. This pizza is filling, but really tastes like bread stacked with as many ingredients that can reasonably fit on to the crust. On a scale of one to ten I give the toppings a 4 and the crust a 3.5
