Belgium should stick to making blonde beers and leave the pizza making to the Italians. I did not expect Brugge, Belgium to produce great pizza-it is famous for chocolate and beer rather than dough and toppings. However for the sake of comparison (as with all my non-Italian pizzas), I tried the pizza at La Cantina in Belgium. La Cantina is located near the Basilica of Holy Blood which claims to have several drops of the blood of Christ preserved, which makes me wonder how it got to Belgium in the first place….? That religious topic was much more interesting than the cuisine, which is all touristy fare from what I could determine. My pizza was no exception, even though La Cantina was a dedicated pizzeria. This pizza is aesthetically pleasing but had all canned ingredients to include the bland tomato paste. Not much more to say about this pizza. On a scale of one to ten I give the toppings a 3 and the crust a 2.5
