Review

This was my first pesto pizza in Italy, in the densely packed town of Monte di Procida. Its best to let someone else (who knows where they are going) get you to this restaurant, as you have to drive or walk through the most impossibly steep and narrow roads I’ve seen in Italy. The trip is well worth the pesto pizza though. My Sunday pizza was marked by the huge crowd of Italian children in Family Nest, celebrating their first communion. This restaurant also has the added novel attraction of a large cage of colorful finches located in the outdoor dining.

The pizza combines both pesto and prosciutto, which I was skeptical of, but the crispiness of the pesto on good cuts of cooked prosciutto make this a simple and great pizza. Pizza is slightly oily, but complements the doughy crust nicely. On a scale of one to ten I give the toppings a 7 and the crust a 6.
